Apprenticeship Scheme

Each year Clover look for competent and motivated individuals to join their apprenticeship scheme to become fully qualifiedhhg refrigeration/AC engineers or Electricians.

Refrigeration engineers install and maintain equipment which has many uses - from keeping food products fresh to designing air conditioning systems for people in offices.

What are working conditions like?

This will vary enormously depending on what project you are working on, but you can expect to be out and about most of the time. On the other hand, you could find yourself based at a client site in charge of a large refrigeration plant.

As a Clover employee your normal working week will be 38 hours and generally pay and conditions are good, particularly if you work overtime or attend emergency calls.

What type of individuals are we seeking?

You will be interested in mechanical, electrical and practical work, and be willing to travel and work out of hours. Clients will often have very specific requirements, so you must also be adaptive as well as a good listener. Good general health and fitness and good colour vision are also necessary.

What qualifications do you need?

To apply for our apprenticeship scheme you require GCSEs or SCEs in English, Maths, Science and a technical subject. You may be required to sit a literacy and a numeracy assessment at interview.

What training is available?

To become a fully competent refrigeration engineer takes around four years following a Modern Apprenticeship and National Traineeship scheme. This requires you to sign documents that set out your training programme in detail. You attend college on a day release, evening or block basis and keep a log which records your activities and work-based assessments. You will probably work towards an NVQ or SVQ level 2 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, which can be followed by a level 3 qualification.

Following on from this we may offer you the opportunity to study for a Higher National Diploma or Certificate for those interested in careers in manufacturing or design work, which is generally office-based.

There are a number of colleges and training centres throughout the UK which offer refrigeration qualifications, however your local college is likely to be located in either Liverpool or Manchester.

If you think you're a suitable candidate and you would like to join our team then email us a covering letter and CV to hr@cloveruk.com, clearly stating why you think you're a suitable candidate. If you're unable to email these documents then post them to the Human Resources department at our head office.
